Inclusive education
Inclusion is where the system is organised for the pupil and not where the pupil is forced to fit into the system. Effective inclusion demands a change in focus from the institution and static academic expectations to recognise the individual needs of the pupil (including socio-emotional needs) and his/her surrounding community. All teachers and other professionals working with pupils must have an open and broadly-educated mind to allow for a holistic approach to teaching the individual pupil.
The inclusive school is a place where pupils are welcomed regardless of their background, learning abilities or origin. They have the right to be regarded as individuals and as important members of society.
